From February 15 until March 3, 2019, Red Deer, Alberta will host the 2019 Canada Winter Games. The 2019 Canada Winter Games will be the largest event ever hosted in Red Deer and the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be hosted in Alberta in over 30 years - since the 1988 Olympics in Calgary!

Over 3,600 participants from across Canada will compete for gold in 19 sports during the 2019 Games. The 2019 Games is forecasted to generate an economic impact of over $132 million, with 20,000 visitors expected to visit Red Deer and central Alberta for the event.



Team Alberta 

The Canada Games are an interprovincial and territorial sports festival staged every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter Games.

Since the Canada Games were introduced in 1967, more than 100,000 participants in over 40 sports have been involved as athletes, coaches or officials, and over 75,000 volunteers have dedicated their time to staging the event.

Team Alberta was impressive at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, earning 75 medals, finishing fourth overall.  Team Alberta captured 14 gold, 25 silver and 36 bronze medals at the Games and many of our athletes achieved personal bests.
